The Banaue Rice Terraces are terraces that were carved into the mountains of Ifugao in the Philippines by ancestors of the indigenous people. They are frequently called the "Eighth Wonder of the World".
There was a time in the not-too-distant past when the terraces were falling into disrepair, but in recent years there has been a push to restore them. You might not believe it, but this view comes from a restaurant in Banaue, where you can enjoy a nice chicken noodle soup (sotanghon) and cold Coca-Cola.
